Champadevi Hike

Champadevi Hike is a scenic hike to one of the religious site of Champadevi which culminates into an adventure of a different sort. A short hike from Pharping to Champadevi takes you through the lush forests to the pilgrimage sites for both Hindus and Buddhists with a magnificent panorama of  Ganesh Himal, Annapurna, Langtang, and Gaurishankar ranges. A religious and natural exploration of the environs around the Kathmandu Valley, Champadevi Hike is your answer to taste the glimpses of what Nepal offers.

Champadevi Hike begins at Kathmandu. After an early morning breakfast, you’ll drive 19km south to Pharping on the way to DakshinKali temple. The hike begins at Pharping, an old Newari town. It is the place where Guru Rinpoche is said to have attained the enlightenment, hence, the place is home to numerous Buddhist monasteries. You’ll begin walking through the lush pine forest which goes gradually uphill for about half an hour. You’ll reach the northern ridge and ascend further to reach the revered site of Champadevi Temple. Champadevi Hill is the highest among the hills that surround the Kathmandu valley. The hike will last only a few hours which will take you to the top of the Champadevi ridge.

Along the way, you can enjoy the scenic panorama of the surrounding mountains namely Ganesh Himal (7422m), Annapurna (8091m), Langtang (7227m), Dorje Lakpa (6966m), and Gaurishankar (7134m). After enjoying the beautiful scenery, you’ll descend the same way back to Pharping and catch your commute back to the hotel. You can undertake Champadevi Hiking during spring (Mar-Jun) and autumn (Sep-Nov) seasons as they guarantee the best weather and accessibility.

Shivapuri Hike

The Shivapuri day hike revolves around the Shivapuri National Park and is often hailed by many to be a must-do in the Kathmandu valley. Spreading on an area of 159 km2, the park provides travelers an extreme sense of isolation that is virtually impossible near the city premises. The delicate and intricate balance of man and nature is blissfully portrayed by this hike and is guaranteed to leave you a changed individual.

With a thorough introduction with our guides, we venture towards Budhanikantha which sits 8 km north of Kathmandu. Our guide will accompany you as you tour around the Budhanikantha temple where you can find a statue of Lord Vishnu sleeping in the pond. This pond has numerous myths associated with it so be sure to explore it.  We fight the uphill trail and reach the entrance of the park where we can see Nepal Army Post. We get our permits checked and head inside the park, thereon, the crumbling of the soil beneath your boots, crumbling of leaves, and bird chirps will accompany you to the top of the hill.

The park houses more than 500 species of birds and animals which might feel a bit difficult to observe during the day. Animals like Indian leopard, jungle cat, Hanuman Langur, and wild boar are found here. We head to the Nagi Gompa which sits at an altitude of 2330 m and is the highest point in this hike. After briefing ourselves with Buddhism and interacting with the monks, we begin the journey backward. This hike is relatively easy and can be done by anyone. However, the trails may be slippery; so, you must be extremely careful on both the ascent and descent. Upon arrival at the entrance of the park, we head back to the hotel where the trip shall end.

A pioneer in trekking and other trips in Nepal, the Danphe Adventure Treks focuses on providing quality service at an affordable price. On the Shivapuri hike, we offer the chance for travelers to enjoy the natural aspect around the valley. The hike also offers a different perspective to view the Kathmandu valley.

Chisapani Nagarkot Hike

Chisapani Nagarkot Hike can be aptly described as a short and enthralling trip that is bound to provide you with an ethereal experience. What makes this trip heads and shoulders different from the other trips’ is its ability to provide the travelers a blend of nature and culture in the form of forested trails where statues of God can be seen, and where monkeys accompany you on your prayers. This tour is a gentle change from the usual commotion that surrounds the cities and mesmerizes in the beauty of nature.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, prepare to get a cultural introduction as you head towards your hotel. Explore the major UNESCO world heritage sites of the Kathmandu valley and find yourself amidst a state of spiritual and cultural fulfillment. Climb the arduous stony steps to reach the Swayambhunath stupa and while you roam on the hilltop, witness the daily commute and delicate balance of Buddhism and Hinduism. Understand the meaning of life on the Ghats of Pashupatinath and find the meaning behind the prayers recited. Commence the trek by heading to Sundarijal and after getting the adequate stuff, we walk through the lush forests accompanied by narrow streams and sparse settlements that stand out in the wilderness.

An aerial view of the Kathmandu valley maybe awesome but the road to Chisapani is even greater. Fight an uphill battle while taking in the scenery of Annapurna and Langtang. The road to Nagarkot goes through Jarsing Pauwa and it is at times pretty rough. You will see sparse settlements and delightful views but the food is much better. We continue on the road to Changunarayan and as we marvel at the architectural perfection, our guide will brief you about its history. Ultimately, head towards Kathmandu where your trip will end.
