Khopra Danda Trek

The 16-day trek begins at Kathmandu. Then you’ll visit a full day cultural sightseeing tour atKathmanduUNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterward, you’ll commute west of Kathmandu to the touristic city of Pokhara, then advance further northwest towards Nayapul to begin the trek. The trek advances through the popular Gurung villages of Ghandruk and Tadapani before taking an off-beat path to Dobato.

Advancing through the lush rhododendron forest; you’ll trek further north to the Khopra Danda or Khopra ridge (3650) via Chistibang village. The vantage point from Khopra Danda offers a magnificent panorama of Annapurna massif, Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Nilgiri Himal (7061m), and Khopra Lake. The serene environment offers a quiet and relaxing time.

From here on, you’ll retrace your path and descend down to the exotic Magar and Gurung villages of Ghorepani. Similarly, the trek leads to Mohare Danda, Nangi, and Banskharka before conceding the trek at Galeshwar. The off-beat trail of Khopra Danda is a fairly new trail, hence, you won’t find many tourists en route which gives more time to relax and enjoy the place. Along the trail, you’ll be see the serene views of Annapurna massif, Gangapurna (7454m), Machhapuchhre (6997m), Nilgiri (7061m), and Hiunchuli (6441m). Then, you’ll catch your commute back to Pokhara from Galeshwar. The trip concludes at Kathmandu. The best seasons for trekking Khopra Danda are spring (Mar-Jun) and autumn (Sep-Nov).

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, one of the most popular trek destinations in Nepal. An adventurous journey into the Annapurna region in mid-west Nepal which is suited for all kinds of trekkers. Exploring the Annapurna Conservation Area; the trek takes you to Ghorepani and Ghandruk, scenic Gurung villages located on the foothills of Annapurna massif. Poonhill viewpoint is another highlight on the trek which offers a complete 360 degrees panorama of the surrounding hills, Kali Gandaki gorge, Annapurna Conservation Area (ACAP), and the Himalayas in the Annapurna region.

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek initiates upon your arrival at Kathmandu followed by a scenic sightseeing tour of Kathmandu City. Then, Guided by an experienced tour guide, you’ll visit numerous UNESCO World Heritage Sites including Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, and age-old historical palaces. Afterward, a short drive to the west of Kathmandu along the Trishuli River will take you to the popular tourist getaway of Pokhara City followed by a 1.5hr drive northwest to Nayapul. Nayapul serves as the gateway to the Annapurna Conservation Area. Then, the trek begins with a decent uphill hike through the lush sub-tropical forests towards Ulleri. From Ulleri, you’ll continuously climb stone-steps leading directly to Ghorepani village. An early morning hike east of Ghorepani will bring you to the watchtower of Poon Hill (3193m) from where you can catch a beautiful sunrise along with the majestic panorama of Annapurna I (8091m), Machhapuchhre (6997m), Nilgiri (6441m), and Hiunchuli (7061m).

Afterward, you’ll make a descent to the village of Tadapani. The trail continues to the traditional village of Ghandruk before dropping towards Nayapul. The ethnic village Ghandruk is mostly inhabited by the Gurung tribe of people and also serves as the headquarters of the Annapurna Conservation Area. A short hike down the stone-steps and the rugged trail will bring you back to Nayapul. You’ll catch a commute back to Pokhara, and drive back to Kathmandu. Ghorepani Poon Hill trail remains accessible throughout the year, however, spring (Mar-Jun) and autumn seasons (Sep-Nov) guarantee the best weather and accessibility.
